Your Motherhood Superpower is...
Empathy

Whether you identify as an empath or not, its time to recognize that your empathic powers are above average my friend. Your high level of sensitivity allows you to tap into a deep wellspring of care whenever your partner or kids are struggling.

You may have always had an affinity for working with kids or animals. Now, with your own children, you connect with them super easily and even naturally.

Your kids know you are attuned to their needs and feel comfortable communicating openly with you, whether they're toddlers knowing they'll be loved and accepted by you despite their tantrums, or teens coming to talk when times are tough with their friends.

You value deep relationships with the people you love and invest the time and energy to spend quality time with each of them.

Here's the thing though, being so attuned to the people you love most, often leads to you taking on too much responsibility for them, and then feeling exhausted and burnt out. You might be finding yourself overwhelmed, anxious or even doubting yourself as a momma.

I see you Beautiful. You've dedicated yourself to your family and their needs, and somewhere along the way YOU and your needs have gotten lost. When you learn to prioritize yourself and YOUR needs, you'll then be able to show up for your family resourced, loving and calm.

“Self-care is never a selfish act—it is simply good stewardship of the only gift I have, the gift I was put on earth to offer to others.”

–Parker Palmer

How to engage your Empathy Superpower to up-level your home...

1. Recognize Your Needs

No one is better than you at recognizing when your partner or kids need some love and attention! Now it's time to turn some of your compassionate attention towards yourself, and start noticing what you need too.

  • Do you need to rock out to your own music and not constantly be listening to Baby Shark?
  • Do you need to move your body faster than you've been able to do with kids in tow?
  • Do you need to get out in nature alone so you can hear yourself think?

Your needs are important! And the first step in getting your needs met and being a happier, more resourced momma, is simply to take the time to notice what it is that you need.

Write down 5 things you need that you aren't getting that would contribute to your overall wellbeing.

 2. Prioritize Self-Care

One of the kindest things you can do for your kids, your partner, and yourself is regularly scheduling in self-care.

Whether it’s a relaxing lavender-scented bath or a half an hour jogging, or doing yoga, giving yourself space to clear out stagnant energy and revitalize yourself allows you to show up 100% with your family afterwards.

Even though it can feel hard to pull yourself away from the needs of your family, the payoff is HUGE! Go take care of yourself today! Your family will thank you for it.

 3. Stop comparing

Remember that perfection is an illusion. Never compare your messy, real life to other people's "picture perfect" posts on social media.

If you do find yourself comparing, make a list of 5-10 things you did well today and celebrate the heck out of your successes!
